Nasim Zaidi, who demitted office as the Chief Election Commissioner today, described his tenure at Nirvachan Sadan as "satisfying", saying he achieved a lot and initiated several electoral reforms.

"It was satisfying. I achieved a lot. We initiated several steps... It was really satisfying," he told PTI after a warm send off at his office.

Zaidi had assumed charge as the 20th chief election commissioner on April 19, 2015.

Before that he was an election commissioner since July 7, 2012.

Prior to joining the constitutional body, Zaidi, an IAS officer of 1976 batch, was the Civil Aviation Secretary.

Achal Kumar Joti, the senior-most commissioner after Zaidi, will take over as the next CEC tomorrow.
