Hailstorm in Rajasthan, one killed

Heavy hailstorms in the state claimed at least one life in Bundi district in the wee hours today, police said.

26-year-old Satayanarayan Ahair of Khajura village was killed while he was taking shelter under an iron tin shade with three other persons during the heavy windstorm, Station House Officer SHO of Karwar police station said.

The injured Sheopal Meena, Prakesh and Ramdev Meena have been rushed to the community health centre at Indergarh here, where they are undergoing medical treatment, police said, adding that a pet horse was also injured in the incident.

In another incident of windstorm at Nainwa town of the district, a woman was reportedly injured.
 

The windstorm continued for about 25 to 30 minutes across the district. Trees and electric polls were said to have fallen down at a few places, however no other untoward incident was reported.

In the Dadabari area of the district, acyclic shades and window glasses of the buildings in residential colonies were shattered into pieces due to the hailstorm and the bike riders and pedestrians susteined minor injuries in the process.

Moderate hailstorm continuing for about 20 minutes was reported in several parts of the district including Satelkhedi, Ramganjmandi, Modak, Suket and Mandana villages yesterday evening.

A considerable dip in the temperature was reported in various parts of Bundi, giving relief to the people from the scorching heat that had shot to 42 degree Celsius in the recent days in the district.
