Half-marathon organised in Gurgaon

Over 2000 people from various walks of life participated in the half marathon, organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, as part of the Haryana Day celebrations here today.

Haryana Education minister Ram Bilas Sharma and PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh flagged off the 21-km long half marathon -- "A Run for Unity" -- at Tau Devi Lal stadium here.

Several leaders including MLA from Sohna Tezpal Tanwar and T L Satya Prakash, Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon also participated in the "Run for Unity".

Speaking on the occasion, Rao Narbir Singh said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel united all the 565 provincial states and made modern India during the independence struggle.
 

"When Britishers gave option to the Rulers of provincial states that they can have their independent constitution as well as governance. But Patel united them in just 100 days. Today the country is remembering its hero," he said.
