Half of the TV shoppers in China say they were cheated at least once but only a small number of them complained saying "it's too troublesome", a survey has said.

The study showed 14.3 per cent of survey participants had bought commodities through their TV and 45 per cent of them responded that they had been cheated.

Interestingly, a large number of these customers abstained from making any complaint. Only 8.3 per cent of the victims tried to get their money back, and 75.6 per cent of those said no one responded to their complaints.

Just 12.5 per cent of them finally got "some" compensation after undergoing "innumerable hardships, the survey conducted by a state-run People's Daily and a Beijing-based polling agency projected.

"It's too troublesome," and "there will be no good results," were the most common responses by the majority who did not bother to complain, the survey said.
