Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken today inaugurated a conference hall in the name and memory of former DPCC president and former MLA late Ram Babu Sharma.

Inaugurating the hall at DPCC office here, Maken said Sharma was a grass-root level leader who understood the pulse of party workers at the lowest rung and worked shoulder-to- shoulder with them.

He said Sharma was one of the pillars of Delhi Congress and had played a decisive role in strengthening the party in Delhi.

Addressing party workers, Maken said when he was given the responsibility to head Delhi Congress, he could see Sharma's picture on every brick of the DPCC building and had then decided to name one of the halls of Rajiv Bhawan after Sharma in his memory.

Besides Maken, Sharma's family members, ex-MPs Ramesh Kumar and Jagdish Tytler, former ministers of Delhi Arvinder Singh Lovely, Haroon Yusuf, Dr Yoganand Shastri, Dr Narendra Nath, Ramakanth Goswami, chief spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee and others were present at the programme.
