Actress Halle Berry has teamed up with History Channel to produce a series on the life of the legendary Carthaginian general Hannibal Barca.

The 'Hannibal' miniseries is penned by Oscar-nominated writer Jeffrey Caine, who is known for writing the scripts of 'The Constant Gardener' and 'Goldeneye', reported Ace Showbiz.

"Hannibal was not only the greatest African general to ever live. He may have been the greatest general, period. His story is an intricate and captivating ride, and I'm thrilled to get this project off the ground with our partners at History," Berry, who is executive producing the series, said in a statement.

The miniseries will start in Carthage, in 264 BC, at the beginning of his life in North Africa and goes on to cover second Punic War between Carthage and Rome.

Berry, 47, recently landed a starring role in series 'Extant'. She will play a female astronaut who is trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in space.
