Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that the government is giving priority to handicraft and 1.13 lakh artisans have been enlisted in the state.
"We have to change the shape of the villages. We are working to bring change in the lives of the people. Handicraft is being given priority and 1.13 lakh artisans have been enlisted, who will be trained and encouraged to make their produce as per the market. This will bring change in their lives," Das said.
Addressing a meet of the artisans organised by the state Khadi and Gram Udyog Board, he also said that value addition would be made on the items using modern technology, an official release said.
The artisans would be provided market by setting up village and urban fairs at tourist spots, he said.
The state government will increase the budget for Khadi Board so that maximum schemes could be taken up, he said, adding land would be given to Khadi Board within 15 days in the area of Heavy Engineering Corporation here and the countrys first Khadi Mall would be set up.
