Har: 6 people caught exchanging currency notes worth Rs 34 L

Six people were caught for their alleged involvement in exchanging more than Rs 34 lakh-worth of currency notes in a beer bar in Haryana's Sirsa district, police said today.

Police said the suspects were carrying the currency notes in denomination of Rs 2000, Rs 100 and Rs 50.

"The suspects have been detained and are being questioned. The currency notes involved was worth over Rs 34 lakh. They were to exchange the notes with some people. Whether the new notes were to be exchanged in lieu of demonetised notes is under investigation," DSP Sirsa Vijay Kumar said.

The raid at the bar was carried out by the police last evening, Kumar said.
 

The Income Tax Department has been informed and the matter is being probed, he added.
