Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today called upon the socio-religious and educational organisations of the state to develop at least one village into a model village.
Khattar made this exhortation while delivering his key note address as chief guest at the concluding function of the 6-day golden jubilee programme of the Kishan Lal Public College here today.
He said at the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi all 90 MLAs of the state legislative assembly, all 15 MPs (Members of parliament as well as Rajya Sabha) had adopted one village each and several dignitaries like yog guru Swami Ram Dev, Satpal Maharaj, Subhash Chandra of Zee News and industrialist Rudra Sen Arya had come forward for the crucial task.
The CM declared that the state government would also provide the needed financial assistance in the accomplishment of this onerous task by way of matching grant for rural development so that all 6,500 odd villages of the state could become model villages in the years to come.
Following the Chief Minister's exhortation, the Management of the KLP College took upon the responsibility of developing two villages of the Rewari region into model villages as well.
Specifically mentioning about Taxila and Nalanda universities where students from various parts of the world received education in days of yore, the CM showered accolades on private educational institutions which were doing excellent work in the sphere of quality education in present times in contrast to government educational institutions.
Simultaneously lauding the KLP College for its stupendous progress, the CM said the college which had only 250 students on its rolls fifty years ago, there were now 3,600 boys and girls, who were getting education in the four educational institutions being run by the Public Education Board.
He went on to say that over one lakh alumni of these educational institutions had now been working quite satisfactorily in various parts of the country whereas he announced a financial assistance of Rs 21 lakh for the KLP College and also sanctioned 11 more posts of teachers raising thereby the number of sanctioned posts of teachers in the college from 69 to 80.
Similarly the CM released the college magazine "Pravah" highlighting the achievements of the college during the past 50 years and also dedicated to the public the newly-built Golden Jubilee Pillar of the college.
