Haryana Power Minister Ajay Singh Yadav today directed officials of state power utilities to begin the process of providing connections to unauthorised colonies as per state government's policies.

Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Deficient Municipal Areas (Special Provisions) Bill, 2013 was passed in the recent session of the Assembly to provide basic facilities to people in unauthorised colonies for which a common compounding policy is being prepared.

During a review of the functioning of power utilities in a meeting with senior officials here, Yadav said electricity connections of defaulters who had not paid their bills, would not be disconnected in case they are ready to pay 50 per cent of the balance amount.

Also, a letter of commitment should be taken from defaulters that they would soon pay the second instalment of their remaining amount, he added.
