The final Development Plan of Sohna, with a projected population of 6.40 lakh by 2031 AD, has been notified, a spokesman of Haryana Town and Country Planning Department said here today.
Besides, the Aravalli range that surrounds main Sohna town from three sides, have been designated as a Natural Conservation Zone in the plan, he said, adding that the town has high potential for development.
The KMP Expressway, which is under construction, passes by the southern side of the town. The Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) linking Delhi to Mumbai also passes by the south-eastern side of the town.
The land for DFC has already been acquired and the HSIIDC has taken about 600 hectares of land for development of an Industrial Model Township (IMT) at Sohna between Sohna town and KMP Expressway, he said.
"There is also a proposal to acquire an additional 600 hectares for the expansion of IMT. Two pockets in the Development Plan, that is one of 50 hectares in Sector-25 and the other of 16 hectares in Sector-31 are reserved for low and medium income groups.
The residential areas proposed in the Development Plan shall be developed on neighbourhood concept by making provision of all community facilities and services within the sectors on an average net residential density of 300 persons a hectare.

Keeping in view, the scarcity of water in Gurgaon district endeavour shall be made to develop the sectors or colonies on zero discharge concept to encourage use of recycled water.
"An area of about 340 hectares has been reserved as Water Recharge Zone to check the run-off that will replenish the depleting underground water table," he said.
As per the development plan, there is a total urbanisable area of 5,600 hectares. Of it, residential area is 1,719 hectares, commercial land in 255 hectares, industrial in 1,236 hectares and transport and communication in 627 hectares. Besides, 241 hectares has been earmarked for public utility and 573 hectares for public and semi-public purposes. Open space and green belt would cover 949 hectares.
