Congress leader Randeep Surjewala has accused the BJP-led government in Haryana of neglecting progress, development and employment opportunities in the state.

Surjewala, an MLA from Kaithal, was addressing a rally organised by party leader Randhir Khatkar in Naguran village yesterday.

The Congress national spokesperson said that Jind has been neglected of progress, development and employment opportunities under the BJP government. He urged the public to bestow in him their trust and give the Congress a chance.

Surjewala said if the Congress was voted to power, he would make sure that the district faces no discrimination in issues of development and employment generation.

He accused the state government of not fulfilling the promises it made to the farmers. He urged the local Congress leaders to cite the problems faced by the common people and expose the "anti-people" policies of the government.

Later speaking to reporters, Surjewala claimed that the state government has failed in every aspect.

Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "liar", he accused the BJP of coming to power by falsely promising to abolish income tax and reduce the prices of petrol and diesel.

He called Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar a "mere puppet" and the weakest CM the state has seen.

"Under the leadership of Khattar, the development of the state has come to a standstill and law and order has gone to waste," Surjewala said.

He said that there was an atmosphere of fear in the state that is fuelled by the issue of reservation.
