The Haryana State Pollution Control Board has decided to set up 19 Continuous Online Ambient Air Quality Monitoring (CAAQM) stations at district headquarters to measure the pollution levels.

These CAAQM stations would be set up at Panipat, Sonipat, Rewari, Bahadurgarh, Kaithal, Karnal, Yamuna Nagar, Manesar, Faridabad (Sec- 55 and 56), Ambala, Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Kurukshetra, Mahendergarh, Mewat, Palwal and Sirsa, a spokesman of the Board said today.

The Board has already installed four CAAQM stations at Faridabad, Gurugram, Rohtak and Panchkula for measuring the level of pollution in the ambient air, he said here.

"The data on ambient air quality of these towns are being analysed through a server at the head office of the Board and this data is also provided to the Central Pollution Control Board," he said.

The Board is constantly monitoring and persuading industries for installation of Air Pollution Control Devices (APCD), the spokesman said.

No air polluting industry is allowed to operate without APCD and consent to operate is granted to them only after adequate installation of pollution control measures, he said.

"As a result of this, mostly all air polluting industries have installed APCD. All new industries are directed to install it," the spokesman said.
