The Haryana Transport Department will soon launch an e-ticketing system to promote cashless transactions in the state.

"In the initial phase, this system will be implemented for bus services operating along highway routes," State Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said here today.

He said information technology should be used to put an end to corruption and bring in transparency in the system.

The Minister said work is being undertaken at rapid pace to make all departments, including transport, digital under the 'Digital Haryana' programme.

"Rs 1.35 crore has been approved for purchasing a server to enable online functioning of the transport department," he said in a statement.

He said e-Payment facility of road tax was being offered to owners of transport vehicles through State Bank of India.

The facility that was launched in July has been made available through e-GRAS in offices of all secretaries, regional transport authorities and registration authority, Panwar said.

E-Soochna Centres will be established at all bus stands in the state, to provide information regarding timetable of buses, routes and tourist destinations, he said.

The Minister informed the first centre has been established at Kurukshetra.
