Alleging harassment by the electricity department officials and a local BJP leader, a man committed suicide in the Shashtrinagar locality here, police said today.
Nishan Singh yesterday committed suicide at his residence here after allegedly being harassed by electricity department officials and local BJP leader Pradeep Khullar, they said.
On the statement of Singh's wife Seema, a case of abatement to suicide was registered against Khullar and four others, police said.
Following registration of the case, BJP has served a show cause notice to Khullar, who was the convenor of traders' cell of the party's district unit.
BJP District President, Subhash Sood said Khullar has been relieved of his positions in party after the case was registered and a notice has been served to him asking "why he should not be expelled from party".
