As Jharkhand celebrated its 14th Foundation Day today, Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed said it was a day for self-introspection to know whether the state had progressed as per expectations and added hard work alone could put the state among the developed states.

"The day is also for self-introspection...(as to) whether we have achieved progress as per the expectations," Ahmed said recalling Jharkhand becoming the 28th state 13 years ago.

Asking to put government work on fast-track at a function here to mark the state's foundation day, he suggested making efforts in getting maximum funds from the Centre under welfare schemes through effective and speedy implementation of projects meant for the people.

Asking the government to give a serious thought in proper implementation of various welfare programmes, Ahmed expressed satisfaction over the state's progress in different areas, but called for faster implementation of various projects.

The state is endowed by rich mineral resources, he said. But what required was united effort, proper thought and planned effort to put Jharkhand among the progressive states, he added.
