Welcoming the Supreme Court verdict on Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said the apex court's judgements first on Uttarakhand and then on Arunchal will go a long way in protecting constitutional norms in the country.

"The judgement is historic. It is a triumph of democracy and the constitution.

"The apex court's judgements first on Uttarakhand and then on Arunchal will go a long way in protecting constitutional norms in the country," Rawat said in an official release here.

President's rule imposed in Uttarakhand on March 27 following a political crisis which was lifted and Harish Rawats government reinstated after about a month and a half following the intervention of the Supreme Court.
