Harley Davidson opens 19th independent dealership in India

Harley Davidson India today launched its fourth independent dealership in Nagpur, Maharashtra, making it the 19th in the country.

Talking about the premium motorcycle segment, Pahwa said the company has a market share of 65.79 percent and claimed that they lead the way in developing a strong leisure motorcycle culture in the country.

Under the strategic expansion, Harley Davidson has taken the bike to tier II cities.

N Mohapatra appointed Director Personnel of SAIL * N Mohapatra has taken charge as the Director Personnel of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL).

Prior to this, he was Executive Director, Personnel, at SAIL's IISCO Steel Plant, Burnpur and Bokaro Steel Plant, Bokaro, according to a release.
 

Mohapatra is a doctorate in History. He joined SAIL as junior manager in 1980, at Bhilai Steel Plant and handled many important portfolios in the areas of Personnel Management, Human Resource Development and administration, to rise to the rank of Executive Director, it said.

Bernard Martyris appointed as Kuoni Group Chief HR Officer * Switzerland-headquartered travel service provider Kuoni Group today said it has appointed Bernard Martyris as the Group Chief Human Resources Officer.

Martyris is currently the Chief of Human Resources at VFS Global, a subsidiary of Kuoni Group.

In his new role, Martyris will be responsible for the overall Group's HR strategy, leadership development, talent and performance management, Kuoni Group said in a statement.

Martyris has over 35 years of experience in handling human resources and over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, and was associated with the Oberoi Group and the Taj Group of Hotels.

He will be based in Dubai from where he will concurrently continue in his current VFS Global role.

SKF India commissions 1 MW rooftop solar plant in Pune * Bearings and seals maker SKF India today commissioned its 1 MW rooftop solar plant at its manufacturing facility here.

With the commissioning of this plant, the total rooftop solar capacity of the company has reached 2.1 MW. The company has already set up a 1.1 MW project at its Bengaluru facility.

CG, CEA to explore solar market potential in India * Avantha Group company CG and French research institute CEA (LITEN) have agreed to cooperate for a period of 12 months to investigate market potential and opportunities for Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) system with storage function for Indian airports.

"The agreement was formally announced during the recently held India-France Business Summit in Chandigarh.

"There is no capital investment in the first phase of this collaboration, however, following investigation if found suitable, the companies intend to set up manufacturing facilities," CG said in a statement.

Rays Power to set up 50 MW of grid-linked solar systems * Rays Power Experts today said it has signed a contract with CPWDfor development ofRooftop Solar PV system under 50 MW Rooftop grid connected scheme in states across the country.

"It is a 25 year long tariff agreement. Rays Power Experts will be doing designing, installation and commissioning of the project by June 2016. Size of each project shall be in the range of up to 500 KWp," the company said in a statement.
ICC, Nepal Chamber of Commerce sign trade promotion pact

* Indian Chamber of Commerce and Nepal Chamber of Commerce today signed an agreement to improve people-to-people ties between the two countries besides increasing trade potential with Kolkata.

The BBIN Motor Vehicles Agreement (MVA), signed on June 15, 2015, will further help in facilitating easy cargo movement between the nations, ICC former president Sanjay Budhia said in a statement.
CareOnGo raises pre series A funding to enhance tech platform

* CareOnGo, a mobile chain of co-branded pharma stores, has raised an undisclosed amount in pre series A round of funding.

The B2B mobile network of pharmacies plans to use funds for enhancement of its technology platform and expand its e-Distribution setup.

Founded by IIT-IIM alumni, Aditya Kandoi, Ritu Singh and Yogesh Agarwal, CareOnGo has already built a co-branded network of micro-pharmacies across 8 cities in India which helps them procure, manage and sell through technology.

The company expects the saree category being extended to dhoti saree, pre-plated saree, pant sarees, lehenga saree, jumpsuit sarees, among others.

GHCL to foray into spices sector

* The Rs 2,500 crore Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd (GHCL), which is into edible salt manufacturing with I-FLO brand, will soon foray into spices segment, a top company official said today.

Negotiations are on with various stakeholders, particularly Kerala, to procure quality spices, specially packaged and also considering to import, GHCL Vice-President, Head, consumer Production Division, Gopakumar Menon said.

"The Rs 2,500 crore GHCL, a part of Sanjay Dalmia Group, has Rs 60 crore turnover in salt business, which the company wants to take to Rs 300 crore in another five years by including spices in its health and wellness sector," he said.

Capital Small Finance Bank starts lending operations

*Reserve Bank today said Capital Small Finance Bank has commenced operations as a small finance bank.

It commenced operations as a small finance bank (SFB) with effect from April 24, 2016, RBI said in a release.

The Jalandhar-based CSFB has been set up by converting the erstwhile Capital Local Area Bank.

CSFB was one of the 10 applicants to be given in-principle approval for setting up SFBs.

Hilleman Labs initiates clinical trials for two vaccines

*Hilleman Laboratories, a joint venture of pharma major MSD and UK-based Wellcome Trust today announced initiation of Phase I/II clinical trial of its Rotavirus and Cholera vaccines.

The company has initiated clinical trials for heat-stable Rotavirus vaccine and innovative Cholera vaccine, Hilleman Laboratories said in a statement.

"We have designed both Rotavirus and Cholera vaccine candidates keeping in view the socio-economic and demographic needs of developing nations," Hilleman Laboratories CEO Davinder Gill said.
Freecharge appoints Fareed Jawad as VP Payments

* Digital payments firm Freecharge today said it has appointed Fareed Jawad as the Principal Product Architect and Vice President (VP) payments.

In his new role, Jawad's mandate will be to build payments technologies at Freecharge. In addition, he will lead the efforts on building technologies for solving the unique payments problems in India.

Prior to his appointment at Freecharge, he has worked with Amazon India and Flipkart as well.
