Harrisons Malayalam-RP wins eight awards in tea competition

Harrisons Malayalam -RP Sanjiv Goenka Group has won eight awards in the 12th edition of the Golden Leaf India Award (TGLIA)-Southern Tea Competition, which was held at Dubai.

Joonktollee Tea and Industries and United Nilgiri Tea Estates Company won five awards each, while Hittakkal Group won four.

Parry Agro Industries and Woodbriar Group won three awards each, while Darmona Tea Industry, Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company, Kodanad Estate and Tata Coffee won two awards each. Balanoor Plantations and Industries and Harrisons Malayalam won one award each.

TGLIA convenor V Unnikrishnan in a release said the final tasting session of the competition was held at Dubai, coinciding with the 6th Global Dubai Tea Forum 2016 from April 5 to 7.
 

The 56 short-listed teas that qualified for the first and second level of screening were evaluated by a panel of international jury, comprisingrenowned tasters and major buyers at Dubai yesterday.

Certificates to the winners were distributed by the jury members today, concluding day of the forum, Unnikrishnan said.
