Union Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Harsh Vardhan said there was no dearth of talent but we need motivation, which should be a driving force to take the country to a new height.

"Not only in the field of metallurgy but we had proud history leading the world in sectors across including economy, industry, science, medicine, art and culture because of our uncommon talent and DNA, which was time tested and universally acknowledged," the minister said.

"However, we need motivation and new ideas to take the country to a new height," he commented while applauding the contribution of NML-CSIR to nation for last 65 years.

Harsh Vardhan, also the Vice President of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), was accompanied by R. Girish Sahni Director General, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi, during a visit to the National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) here.

Addressing the scientists during the occasion, he said NML-CSIR has proud history and immensely contributed in the development of the country.

"During an interaction with the scientists, I came to know that the country stands 10 per cent behind the world's best in the science and technology field and the 10 per cent gap was because of those domestic industries, who were happy with the best foreign technology rather than the one already developed by the country," the minister said.

"It was not a difficult task to bridge the 10 per cent gap but needed motivation and new ideas to make them a reality," he said expressing confidence that such approach would not only lead the country on par with the world's best player but may make it better.

You will find Indian scientists, professionals, doctors across the globe including in the developed nation like USA, he said referring to work place employee profile in NASA and operation theatre in US hospitals where Indian are in large number because of the talent and unique DNA.
