State Water Resources Minister Dr Narottam Mishra gave instructions to officials in this regard on Sunday after the inspection of Harsi-Sindh project, Harsi dam and its canal systems in Gwalior division, an official said on Monday.
The strengthening and widening works of Harsi canal system for capacity expansion will be carried out after Rabi season by the water resources department, the minister said, adding there will be no dearth of funds for the project.
He also directed to provide sufficient water to farmers from the dams built on Parvati and Sindh rivers.
Mishra instructed the officials to provide sufficient water to Mohangarh, Kerua and Sankhni villages from Doab canal in Bhitarwar region.
Following earlier instructions of the minister, 1,330 cusecs water is being supplied everyday to 40,000 hec crops in Harsi command area since July 24, the official said.
Mishra also said that a new division office of water resources department will be opened at Gwalior headquarters.
