The state government has decided to impose conditions while issuing goods carriage permits to curb illegal transportation of animals in Haryana.
The number of animals to be carried by a carriage, its speed limit while transporting animals and the extent of journey without a break have been specified, violation of which, will attract penalty.
Stating this here today, Transport Commissioner Sumita Misra said here that while issuing goods carriage permit, conditions will be attached for adherence to Haryana Motor Vehicle Rules.

Directions have been issued to sensitise owners and drivers of goods carriages transporting animals, to prevent any cruelty to them, she said.
Misra said, no animal will be carried for more than 200 kms at a stretch and there should be a break of four to six hours, after eight hours of continuous journey.
No goods carriage will carry any other goods except fodder, necessary to feed the animals on the way, she added.
