A senior Haryana Congress leader today came out in support of state cabinet Minister and BJP MLA from Ambala Cantt Anil Vij, whose recent tweets had left his party and the government red-faced on couple of occasions.
Captain Ajay Yadav, a six-time Congress MLA and veteran party leader, in his tweets today supported Vij saying "I congratulate Anil Vij for his fight against centralisation of power by Chief Minister of Haryana as I also faced the same situation under the Hooda regime."
Yadav, a strong Congress face of Ahirwal region who lost the last polls, in his second tweet said "I appreciate the bold statement of Anil Vij, Health Minister, that BJP should create their own leader rather than importing leader as done in Delhi."
Yadav was a bete noir of two times former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and had raised his voice against policy of "lopsided development" during the Congress regime.
He had quit twice as minister, but reviewed his decision after being reapproached by Hooda.
Vij, a front-runner for the CM's post after BJP's historic win in last year's Assembly polls, had been tweeting his voice of dissension ever since the safforn party formed government led by first time MLA and RSS idelogue Manohar Lal Khattar.
Taking a veiled dig at the Chief Minister on 'Twitter' Vij, who is a Health, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister in Khattar government, yesterday said "Thank You Chief Minister For Taking Keen Interest into My Departments. I am Relaxed," putting the government in an embarrasing position.
He was apparently upset with Khattar, who has in recent times launched a number of programmes and schemes pertaining to the departments handled by Vij.
Khattar had launched the government's "Khelega Haryana -Badega Haryana" campaign at Moti Lal Nehru Sports School in Rai in Sonepat district while Vij was away in Kerela, in connection with the National Games. Also, there was no mention of his name or his pictures on the campaign posters.
In another tweet, without referring to anyone, Vij, had said he was not in politics to push the cart of Congress party.
When asked about his tweets, the five-time MLA said, "what was the difference (between Congress and BJP) if things on the ground remains the same.
"People have rejected Congress and punished them. We have to remember this," he had said.
In recent weeks, the Ambala Cantt MLA, has taken to the micro-blogging site to vent his anger.
On the completion of 100 days in office by the Khattar government, Vij had tweeted saying "some people were hell bent on stopping him from working his way but they will not succeed.
After BJP's miserable show in the recent Delhi Assembly polls, Vij tweeted: "If instead of importing leaders (from other parties), the BJP had concentrated on promoting its own leadership in Delhi, the party would not have faced this situation in Delhi.
