Haryana constitutes State Archives Advisory Committee

Haryana government has constituted an advisory committee to get suggestions on sourcing of material of archival importance in the state.

The State Archives Advisory Committee will suggest on sourcing of archival material in possession of temples, individuals, institutions and business houses in the state for their proper preservation, a spokesman of the Archives Department said.

The Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Archives Department and it would advise the state government on the survey of manuscripts and documents, pre-1900 published books and rare private papers, he said.

It will also assist the government in acquisition of paintings of historical, administrative, archival and cultural value which are in private custody and papers of eminent persons, old families of note and business houses of Haryana by donation or loan.
 

Apart from this, the committee would advise the department to acquire typed, photocopied or microfilm copies of those important documents and books which the owners do not want to part with, the spokesman said.

The Director General, Archives Department, Haryana and the Director General of Archives, National Archives of India would be members of the committee, he said.
