Haryana cop gets 4 years in jail for bribery

A court in Jind has sentenced an assistant sub inspector to four years of imprisonment for accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.

The court of District and Sessions Judge, Jind, convicted Assistant Sub Inspector Vijay Kumar who was also fined Rs 10,000.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Haryana State Vigilance Bureau said Kumar was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from complainant Dharmender, a resident of Hisar, for release of his relative Dalbir in an FIR registered at Police Station, Uchana.

The FIR dated April 14, 2015 was registered against the accused under sections 7, 13, 49 and 88 of Prevention of Corruption Act at the bureau's police station in Hisar, he added.
