The dues to MSEs in Haryana soared to Rs 22,951 crore by the end of September this year from Rs 15,596 crore at the end of September, 2011, an official release said here today.

It said a review of credit to this sector on the recommendations of Prime Minister's Task Force showed year-on-year (Sept 2011 to Sept 2012) growth in credit to MSEs of 47 per cent against the target of 20 per cent.

Similarly, the number of MSEs which were provided credit during this period grew by 16 per cent against the target of 10 per cent.

However, the share of advances to micro enterprises stood at only 37 per cent at the end of September this year against the stipulated level of 60 per cent to be attained by March 2013.

"Banks will have to gear up to achieve the target," the release said.

"The data reveals that collateral-free loans of up to Rs 10 lakh provided to MSEs worked out to only 62 per cent of such loans while it is mandatory to provide the remaining 38 per cent such loans as collateral-free. Bankers need to focus on the 19 identified clusters of MSEs in the state for prioritised lending," it said.

While some clusters like Rice Milling and Agricultural Implements clusters in Karnal, Stone Crushing and Engineering clusters in Faridabad and Plywood Industries cluster in Yamunanagar have received adequate credit, others need to be financed in keeping with the targets fixed by the SLBC, it said.

Referring to housing finance, it said that housing finance had shown an upswing, registering an increase of Rs 1103.76 crore from Rs 7396.59 crore at the end of September 2011 to Rs 8500.35 crore at the end of September 2012, up 14.92 per cent in one year.

However, since the advances had actually reduced by 6.17 per cent during the one-year period ended September, the increase is not substantial, it pointed out.

"In fact, the number of accounts has decreased from 1,67,201 at the end of September 2010 to 1,61,455 at the end of September 2012," the release added.
