Haryana CS asked to reunite woman with family

Haryana Human Rights Commission has directed state chief secretary to facilitate the process of reunite a 37-year-old woman undergoing treatment at Psychiatry department at National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, with her family.

The Commission received a reference about Prabhleen Kaur, hailing from Gurgaon in Haryana, from Dr Mathew Varghese, Professor and HOD, Department of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, which was treated as a complaint, a release said today.

According to a report by Commissioner of police, Gurgaon, the relatives of the patient were contacted by police but no positive response was received.

The Institute said the woman, who is unmarried, was currently on regular medication and had shown "significant" improvement in terms of her mental condition and could travel from Bangalore to any other place.
 

"The patient is resident of Haryana, therefore the state chief secretary is directed to look into the matter and facilitate the process of re-integration with her family or a rehab centre or a hospital and report be submitted in this regard within eight weeks," said the order.
