Haryana designates children's courts

Haryana government has decided to designate all Sessions Judges and Additional Sessions Judges at district headquarters except Fast Track Courts, as designated children's courts.

Stating this here today, Sumita Misra, Director General Women and Child Development department said this had been done to ensure speedy trial of offences against children and violations of child rights under the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005.

Under Section 28 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, special courts under relevant sections of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, shall also be held in special courts under the POCSO Act, 2012 to try offences, she said, according to an official release here.
 

Haryana had constituted a State Commission for Protection of Child Rights on December 28, 2012.

The state government is also implementing the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) under which, various schemes for children in need of care and protection, and for juveniles in conflict with law are being covered, she added.
