He also said that 200 home guards have been posted in each district to assist the police in their law and order duties.

Detailed discussion about policies adopted by the police to curb crime against women was held with all the Range IGs, Commissioners and Superintendents of Police.
Dalal said daily report of all investigations carried out by them should be sent to the headquarters. The state government has appointed Additional Director General of Police K Selvaraj for reviewing such cases on a daily basis.
He said senior officials of the concerned districts should maintain regular contact with victim women and their families.
The DGP said all the facts related to crime should be disseminated to the media as news about crime based on incomplete facts and rumours spread panic among people.
During the past two months, there have been a number of cases of crime against women reported from different parts of the state.
