Haryana Food and Drugs Administration will soon launch an online system for giving licenses to chemist shops, medicine factories, renewal of license, and other certificates.

The online system would be started in next 15 days, Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) Commissioner, Rakesh Gupta said.

With the execution of this system, the medicine manufacturers would not have to visit headquarters and certificates would be made available within two days of applying, Gupta said.

This would not only promote transparency in work, but also increase work efficiency, he said.

All Senior Drug Controller Officers (SDCO) and Drug Controller Officer (DCO) in the state would be provided laptops for this purpose, the commissioner said, adding, this would boost the functioning and investigating procedure of the administration.

Gupta who was here for a review meeting, directed officers to increase the pace of investigation of Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques and Medical Termination of Pregnancy cases and register complaints against those who are involved in female foeticide.

The FDA has recovered 20 Chinese machines used for sex determination from such doctors, midwives, and nurses. These machines are very small in size and anybody could carry them in their pockets, he said.
