Haryana fortnight on eye donation from tomorrow

Haryana government has launched a 'Fortnight on Eye Donation' to intensify educational and motivational efforts which would encourage people in the state to come forward as donors, an official source said today.

The fortnight, which is being organised under the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), will run from August 25 to September 8.

"With a view to overcoming the problem of shortage of donors, Haryana government has launched the 'Nehru Drishti Yojna' aimed at decreasing the prevalence of corneal blindness and securing an increase in eye donations," the official said.

"It is a big goal to eliminate corneal blindness from Haryana... The Nehru Drishti Yojna brings a ray of hope for those suffering from it," the official added.
 

The objective of the fortnight is to encourage people to donate their eyes in a away that pledges translate into actual donations, he added.
