Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia has urged people to enrol with the Red Cross Society and become its members and voluntarily contribute in humanitarian programmes.

Addressing a meeting of the Haryana branch of Red Cross Society at the Raj Bhawan here today, the Governor said whenever people face any disaster, Red Cross Society was always been present there with its rescue operations.

"Red Cross Society not only comes forward in critical situations to help people, but also promotes healthcare and education of communities including poor orphan and destitute people," he said, appreciating the activities of Red Cross Society in Haryana.

It was a matter of pride that Haryana Red Cross Society had been honoured by the President for collecting maximum amount of blood as per population ratio of the country in the past two years, Pahadia said.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda directed all Deputy Commissioners to motivate people in their respective districts to provide an ambulance each to the local Red Cross branch.
