The Haryana government has decided to change the name of village 'Pindari' in Jind district to 'Pandu Pindara', as it was called in Mahabharata.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approved a proposal in this regard, an official spokesman said here today.

The gram panchayat of Pindari had requested that the name of the village be changed to 'Pandu Pindara', he said.

The village was not only called Pandu Pindara in the Mahabharata, but is registered with the same name with Indian Railways and Haryana government departments, the spokesman said.

Only in the revenue department records, the name of the village is registered as Pindari, he said.

That is why, the villagers had requested the government to change the name of the village to 'Pandu Pindara', where people come for pilgrimage also, to avoid confusion which has been approved now.
