Haryana govt establishing 20 sports nurseries in each district

With a view to prepare athletes for Olympics and other international competitions, Haryana Government is establishing sports nurseries in each of the 22 districts to impart training to school children in their chosen sport.

These children would also be provided monthly scholarship of up to Rs 2,000. Schools or institutes operating the nurseries would be provided Rs 1.25 lakh for sports equipment and other expenses, this was stated by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Anil Vij, who was speaking after inaugurating Yog and Vyayamshala in Ambala Cantt. Today.

He said that Yog and Vyayamshalas would be set up over an area of about two acres in all 6,500 villages of the State. Of these, about 900 Yog and Vyayamshalas would be constructed this year.
 

He said that stadia were being constructed in all districts to provide international-level sports facilities, and football and athletic tracks were being constructed in Ambala at a cost of Rs 42 crore.
