Haryana govt launches special buses for girl students

The Haryana Transport Department today said it has launched special bus services for the college-going girls in five districts of the state in the first phase of the initiative.

Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said the provision of safe and convenient transport facility colleges going girls is one of the priorities of the government.

In the first phase special buses have been started in five districts - Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh (Mewat), Ambala, and Panchkula.

Panwar said the facility would be extended in the remaining 16 districts in 2016.

"A report pertaining to the requirement of special buses in all districts has been sought from Education and Technical Education Departments for the purpose," he said.
 

A woman security guard would soon be deployed in these buses, he said adding Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has issued directions to the DGP in this regard.

The state government is making constant efforts to further improve the public transport system and a report has been sought from senior officers to start e-ticketing service on PPP mode in 2016, he added.
