The Haryana government today notified a policy to regularise nursing homes running in residential premises in the state and to grant permission to new entrants.
State Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain said provisions for regularisation would not be applicable on nursing homes that have been operating before the constitution of municipalities under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, and the Haryana Municipal Act, 1973.
The owner of such nursing homes would also have to seek permission before changing or adding to the existing construction, she said.

If after 10 years, the applicant does not bring the nursing home in accordance with the policy, double fee would be imposed and the premises would be sealed, Jain said.
The policy would be applicable on nursing homes running from the residential premises located within municipal limits, she said.
The area under the jurisdiction of other authorities like Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Housing Board and licenced colonies would not be covered under this policy, Jain said.
The Minister said the area of the plot size should not be less than 350 square yard for the hyper or high potential zone and 250 square yard for the medium and low potential zones.
Each building should have a parking space for four wheeled vehicles at least equal to the number of indoor beds and four cars, she said.
The charges for premises falling in municipalities in the hyper potential zone would be Rs 6,000, Rs 4,000 per square yard for high potential zone, Rs 2,000 per square yard for medium potential zone and Rs 1,000 per square yard for low potential zone, Jain said.
She said in case doctor is a tenant, one year's annual conversion charges would have to be paid in advance before the start of the new financial, failing which, the permission would lapse automatically.
