Haryana govt set to launch Mandi Payment scheme

Haryana Government today decided to launch Mandi Payment Scheme in the state to help farmers and ensure they get proper payment for their crops.

Under this scheme, the government has fixed an yearly transaction of about Rs 25,000 crore, Chief Administrative Officer of Haryana State Agriculture Marketing Board, T V S N Prasad said here.

In the process, Haryana would be the first state to issue debit cards to farmers, Prasad said adding, a MoU has been signed with National Payment Corporation of India to implement the scheme.

18 banks have been included under the scheme and applications have been received from few others as well, he said.
 

Farmers would be issued free co-branded debit cards which could be used at ATMs of any bank, Prasad said.

Meanwhile, to protect the environment and wild life, the state government also launched another scheme to help people adopt zoo-animals at reasonable rates, a spokesperson said.
