Haryana govt to give 'nutrition award'

An official spokesman said that under the scheme, the district securing first, second and third positions would be given Rs two lakh, Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively.

He said the state government has already increased the rate of nutritional supplements.

The programme has provided employment opportunities to about 75,000 women as self help groups of women and mothers have the responsibility to prepare nutritious diets.

As many as 6,157 'Gram Samitis' and 1,675 'Women Self Help' groups have been constituted to ensure smooth functioning of programmes of children and women.

He said so far about 6,000 women literacy groups have been registered in the state.
