Haryana Control of Organized Crime Act (HRCOCA) will be implemented to check organised crime in the state, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said here today.
Khattar, who was addressing at the passing out parade of recruit constables at Recruitment Training Center (RTC) Bhondsi in this district, said soon the separate Haryana Police Rules will also be enacted as at present the Haryana police is functioning as per Punjab Police Rules, 1934.
He took salute from the contingents of constables at the march-past as 994 recruit constables joined their ranks in Haryana police.
The chief minister said Yoga will be made a part of training of the police constables for keeping them physically and mentally fit.
At the same time, the chief minister mentioned about the 'Vyayamashalas' proposed to be set up in villages and said police department should help in making these operational.
Khattar, according to an official release, directed the police to behave in a friendly manner with the general public saying that "it would help in making the state free from menace of drugs and corruption."
He reiterated that women police stations would also be opened in all districts of the state by August for which 500 women constables would be recruited. In addition, 5,000 police personnel (male) would also be recruited.
He said that for overcoming the shortage of investigation officers, 200 sub-inspectors would also be recruited so that investigation of crime cases could be expedited.
Police recruitments would be made on the basis on Transparent Recruitment Policy (TRP), he said.
At the same time, he said in the next three years 3,060 new houses would be constructed for police personnel at a cost of Rs 550 crore.
He said that during the same duration, more police-public schools will be opened in all the districts of the state.
Khattar pointed out that after the BJP government came into power in Haryana, three such schools have been opened in Sonepat, Bhiwani and Panchkula, taking the number of such schools to 11 where about 9,000 children were receiving quality education.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Khattar's visit to District Jail, Gurgaon, the state government granted special remission to the prisoners who are undergoing sentence as a result of their conviction by the courts of criminals jurisdiction.
