Haryana Govt to install CCTVs in Observation Homes

Women and Child Development Department has issued directions to District Programme Officers and Superintendents of these Homes to take necessary action in this regard.

One of the cameras would be installed at the entrance to check persons coming to Observation Homes and Special Homes and other cameras would be installed at other vulnerable points where it was required for security purpose, WCD Director General Sumita Misra said here today.

She said these cameras would have connectivity for monitoring and supervision in the office of such Homes.

Misra said permission has been sought for provision of video conferencing in the Observation Homes so that in future evidence of juveniles could be done through e-conferencing with the Magistrate.

 

Recently, the state had been rocked by 'Apna Ghar' shelter home scandal in Rohtak, currently being probed by the CBI, where instances of alleged sexual abuse of women and juvenile inmates and acts of bonded labour had come to light.
