The Haryana government today waived VAT and Central Sales Tax payable by registered dealers, who were affected during the pro-quota agitation by the Jats, on their turnover during February.
The state Cabinet in a meeting Chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here approved Haryana Amnesty Scheme 2016 for affected registered dealers.
Registered dealers, among others, suffered losses due to goods damaged, lost, or burnt during the agitation by the Jat community demanding reservation under the OBC category.

Under the scheme, Value Added Tax and Central Sales Tax (CST) payable by the affected dealer on his turnover during February 2016 have been waived, a government release said.
The date of payment of tax under the Haryana Value Added Tax Act and the CST Act by an affected dealer liable to pay tax on quarterly basis has been extended by three months from April 30 to July 31, 2016, it said, adding no interest shall be charged on extended period.
An affected dealer who has failed to use the goods purchased for a specified purpose against declaration in form D-1 due to damage in reservation agitation shall get amnesty from penalty under section 7(5) of the Act.
Also, a dealer who has failed to use the goods purchased for the specified purpose against declaration in form C-4, due to damage in the reservation agitation shall get amnesty from penalty under section 10A of the CST Act 1956.
In case of a dealer lodging claim before designated authority, the time for submission of returns for the period January 1 to March 31, 2016 is extended till July 31, 2016.
An affected dealer covered under the scheme shall be entitled to claim ITC in respect of goods which have been damaged during the agitation.
The amount received as compensation from the appropriate authority designated by the government or insurance claim by the affected dealer company shall not be considered as valuable towards the goods damaged, it said.
