The Haryana Government today increased by four times the award money to be given to the winners at the state-level sports meet for women, a move aimed to encourage participation from rural areas.
Stating this, a spokesman of the Women and Child Development Department said that this year the meet will take place at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula tomorrow.
The decision has been taken to encourage women in rural areas of the state to participate in games and boost their confidence, the spokesman said.

The award money for women bagging first, second and third positions at block-level events would be Rs 2,100, Rs 1,100 and Rs 750 respectively.
Similarly at district level, the award money would be Rs 4,100, Rs 3,100 and Rs 2,100 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranks respectively while it would be Rs 11,000, Rs 8,100 and Rs 4,100 for similar ranks achieved by women athletes in state-level events, the spokesman said.
All athletes would get Rs 1,000 for participating in the sports meet.
