In a major crackdown on drug peddlers, the Haryana Police Friday arrested one person and seized 100 kg cannabis leaves allegedly being smuggled in a carin Jhajjar district, officials said.
On a tip-off, a police team signalled a car bearing Delhi registration number to stop. On checking, the team found five bags of cannabis leaves weighing 100 kg, a spokesman of the state police department said.
Police arrested the driver who was later identified as Rajesh, a resident of Basai Enclave in Gurgaon, he said.
During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Rajesh and his accomplice were also engaged in illegal trade of liquor smuggling, he said.
"A case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act had been registered against them in city police station, Bahadurgarh," he said.
The accused was produced before the court from where he was sent in judicial custody.
