Haryana Police sets up social media cell

The Haryana Police has set up a social media cell with immediate effect in the police headquarters at Panchkula, near here.

For this purpose, a Twitter handle @Police_Haryana has been created.

While giving this information today, a spokesman of the police department said that the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), law and order, assisted by Inspector General of Police (IGP), law and order, and IGP, security, would be the nodal officer for posting tweets on the handle.

He said that a well trained Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) or Inspector would be the in-charge of the social media cell under the supervision of the nodal officers.
 

It has been created with the objective of informing the general public and the media about action being taken by Haryana Police and successes being achieved by it in various fields of activities like law and order, crime prevention and detection, traffic, capacity building etc, he said.

All Commissioners of Police and District Superintendents of Police would also start and manage their Twitter handles in their respective districts, he added.
