Haryana Police starts probe into fake lottery cases

The case was registered against some unidentified persons yesterday after a complaint of one Sunil Malik, a resident of Faridabad district, that he had received an SMS informing him that he had won five lakh pounds in a lottery as his phone number was selected for the same.

Malik claimed that the culprits extorted Rs 64 lakh from him in various instalment on pretext of giving him the lottery money, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said that the complainant had received phone calls from different phone numbers and deposited a total of about Rs 64 lakh in the bank accounts.
