Over 36 lakh tonnes of wheat have so far arrived in the ongoing kharif marketing season in Haryana, which is over 50 per cent more than the arrivals witnessed in corresponding period last year.
"During the current Kharif season, 36.50 lakh tonnes of paddy have arrived in the mandis of Haryana. During this period last year, 22.98 lakh tonnes paddy had arrived in the mandis," an official spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies Department said.
Out of total arrival, 34.89 lakh tonnes paddy was leviable and 1.60 lakh tonnes paddy was non-leviable. While government procurement agencies have purchased 32.45 lakh tonnes paddy, millers and dealers have purchased 4.04 lakh tonnes paddy, he said.
He said Kurukshetra received the maximum amount of paddy at 8.78 lakh tonnes, followed by Karnal and Kaithal at 8.15 lakh tonnes and 4.56 lakh tonnes respectively.
