Haryana records 91.1 pc institutional deliveries

The 'Zero Home Delivery' campaign launched in Haryana has led to an increase in institutional deliveries to 91.1 per cent from 88 per cent in April 2017.

The campaign was launched in the state with an aim to achieve 100 per cent institutional deliveries, a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary D S Dhesi here was told today.

Institutional deliveries increased substantially in Sirsa, Palwal, Mahendergarh, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, Nuh and Bhiwani districts, according to an official release.

It was also informed in the meeting that the Haryana government has initiated Deen Dayal Navjat Shishu Suraksha Yojana to provide various benefits to newborns.

 

The government provides towel, clothes, mosquito net, blanket, soap for mother and baby, mother's gown, baby oil, etc., the release said.

The scheme is in sync with the state's commitment to reduce neonatal and child mortality rates. The scheme would provide benefit to about 2.9 lakh newborns delivered in public healthcare institutions and cost the state over Rs 32 crore annually.
