Haryana Roadways to hire 20 additional luxury buses

Haryana Government has decided to hire 20 additional Multi-Axle air-conditioned buses to meet the increased requirement of commuters, especially on the Chandigarh-Delhi-Gurgaon route.

The government will also create new markets on Delhi-Sirsa, Chandigarh-Sirsa and Delhi-Jaipur routes.

A proposal in this connection has been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, an official spokesman said here today.

Khattar has also suggested that a few seats on the luxury buses of Volvo, Mercedes Benz or Scania make should be reserved for in-between destinations for which proportionate fare be charged.

The spokesman said at present the Haryana Roadways is operating the luxury bus service on various routes with 39 super luxury Mercedes Benz or Volvo buses in its fleet in Chandigarh and Gurgaon.
 

These were plying on Chandigarh-Delhi-Gurgaon via Indira Gandhi International Airport, Chandigarh-Hisar, Chandigarh-Rohtak-Mahendergarh-Jaipur, Gurgaon-Agra and Gurgaon-Haridwar-Dehradun routes.

The official said the majority of these buses were introduced in 2012-13 and have completed life of more than three years and a mileage of over six lakh.

But there was a need to expand the fleet of luxury buses to meet the increased requirement of passengers, he added.
