Haryana's first open jail will be set in Ambala and it will have "independent accommodations" for the inmates.
Director General (Prisons) Yashpal Singhal today said the blueprint of the state's first open jail had almost been finalised and it would be different to some extent from the open prisons of other states.
He said there would be minimum security in the open jail where inmates with good behaviour would be accommodated.

Singhal also said that jammers are being installed in jails in the wake of increasing incidents of cell phones getting slipped into prisons in Haryana.
He said jail department has allotted the work of installation on jammers in three jails of the state, including Sonepat and Rohtak, to a firm and the work in this regard would be started soon.
