Haryana's Smriti Joon top seed at women's tennis meet

Leading players from across the country will take part in the All-India Women's Open Tennis tournament beginning here from March 17.

The seven-day tourney, offering a prize money of Rs 1.55 lakh, will have singles and doubles matches and will be played at Khar Gymkhana.

Haryana's Smriti Joon, who is ranked 16 in the country, is the highest billed player in the tournament.

Andhra Pradesh's Sneha Padamata (ranked 17), Uttar Pradesh's Damini Sharma (21), Jeni Patel (Gujarat, 23), Preethi Ujjini (Karnataka, 29), Sanya Madan (Delhi, 37), Nupur Kaul (42) and Aryali Chavan (both Maharashtra, 42) are the other leading women players who would be taking part, a media release said.
